mandarin oriental hotel made a formal announcement today of their intent to build a 51-story tower on the narrow lot between 1100 peachtree and the old woman's club just south of fourteenth---nearly as tall as bank of america and a floor or two higher than the ibm building---combination hotel and condos that cost a zillion dollars---contingent, of course, on sufficient pre-sales and finding financing---somehow i don't think they will be breaking ground anytime soon---same architects that did metropolis, that being smallwood, et. al.---the article also mentions talk of converting 15 floors of the bank of america tower to hotel rooms
