Teotihaucan

I really don't have a "bucket list," but if I did, Teotihuacán would be near the top. Standing at the top of the Pyramid of the Sun and looking down the Avenue of the Dead from the Pyramid of the Moon, the scale of it all is overwhelming. Our half day there was not nearly enough, and we were only able to see half of the part of the city that has been excavated and restored --- gotta go back.
Although the ceremonial buildings along the Avenue of the Dead were burned 1,500 years ago, the site was never entirely abandoned --- archaeological investigation, restoration, and reconstruction have been ongoing since the late nineteenth century>

One of UNESCO's World Heritage Sites, it also has hundreds of thousands of visitors each year
