an afternoon in the woods

aska is a cherokee word meaning "winter home," and there are several trail heads on aska road at deep gap --- it was all logged to hell and back in the early twentieth century but is now part of the chattahoochee national forest --- a lot of our hike was on old logging roads

we saw a couple of people just as we started and another couple at the end, but we mostly had the trail to ourselves --- thanks, cousin angela ---
guinness enjoyed being off the leash and exploring

the 5.8 mile trail basically looped around flat creek by going up one side of davenport mountain to the headwaters and down along bellcamp ridge and back up the side of davenport mountain --- not sure of the elevation change but several hundred at least
one can certainly waste a lot of time in the woods
stumpy was beat at the end --- he came home, ate, and crashed --- i haven't gotten that far yet
