I got this on the sale rack at the carlos, but very much worth reading --- it was written pre-trump, but the parallels between him and jackson and their effect on the govt is really amazing

puppy dog redux

 i don't think i'm gonna post nothing but cute puppy pictures from now on, and i don't go over there every day, but i'm not promising . . . . this little sinusoidal puppy was too cute to poke

i was sad today: lola had been adopted --- lucky puppy

the little blue circles are not a toy --- it's a food bowl designed to keep the puppies from eating too fast

a friend lost her two sister dogs in the last month or so --- the rottie and her little brown friend here have been at the humane society for over a year! (they have no time limit  --- they stay as long as it takes) ---- these pups came together and will stay together, which is one reason nobody has taken them ---i think we're gonna go saturday and look --- i can't imagine she would leave without them

two hours with puppies rests one's soul

my first session at atl hum society --- i was supposed to be in admissions support, but a bunch of community service people had just left, so i went over and spent time with the puppies --- helping people who come in looking to adopt, and there are a lot more than i might have expected

lola here is my favorite --- somebody is gonna take her cute ass soon

these guys are older siblings --- the one in the back has cataracts --- they gotta stay together

they don't take strays, and i only saw one skinny guy that looked like he had been neglected --- strays go to the real dog pound down the street --- if the pound gets overcrowded, they come up here

the painting of raw masonry (brick and cement) is out of control --- and i really don't like all the painting at the tenth st station --- but that's just me

and yoda grace is slightly less of a handful than she was, but still a mess ---- dex positively hates her still and guinness can't really be bothered --- but she's a real sweetie

it's a dog's life

volunteer orientation at atl humane society this morning --- i wasn't sure about this, but it's not as grim as i had in mind --- actually very clean, bright, and pleasant --- and although technically not a no-kill shelter, it is not the dog pound either --- a lot to do, from cleaning out pens every day, walking muts, socializing kittehs, working front desk, etc etc --- they have some sort of online scheduling system that i'll get access to this afternoon --- a friend said it'll give me good kharma --- i said to hell with that, i'm doing it for the cute puppy and kitten pictures

editorial comment: i don't sit around reading all day, sometimes i'm out with the dog and most mornings and early afternoons i'm working on something, typing away --- but it is wonderful to be able to read a book over the course of a day or two, rather than a month or whatever, which is what it was when i was snatching a little reading on the train to work or at lunch or whatever0 -- and lewis is easy reading

the thirteenth colony distillery has apparently been in business for awhile, but i'm just finding it --- the vodka is purty good, and very affordable --- they say the gin and the corn whiskey are their best product --- i need to try the rye, which is what everybody drank 200 yrs ago

i needed it after helping ms troy pick up her other dead dog ashes --- two siblings inside of two months --- now in nice little boxes on the mantle ---


dogs come, dogs go, so before hershey croaked i got the dex, cuz i knew i did not want to be up in this unit without another warm body --- but then when hersh died, dex got very needy and nearly drove me crazy until we got the guinnett hound ---

keeping up with the bibliography

i got this a while back (4.5 stars on amazon, which is about right) ---- and got bogged down --- so i started over --- a good many people get hung, drawn, and quartered, however

i really like this author --- and this is a purty good take on the issues surrounding ancient artifacts found in the landscape

dead dogs and flowers

went to atl bot gdn with ms troy this merning --- had not seen her in too long --- both of her dogs died in the last two months, the last one on thurs, so she remains grief-stricken --- i know the feeling, and i think of the time i have left with the guys --- i wish they could go like ms kidd's dog: stroke out while chasing balls in the backyard --- 

i'm sorry not to have gotten a better image of this guy and his dog, which had on little blue-mirrored shades

what's really depressing is that regardless of the outcome, he will still be a federal judge

meanwhile, a skeevy supreme court nominee is still there, and they actually laughed out loud at trump at the u.n. today --- his was a petty, petulant rejection of globalism and everything that has staved off another world war for the last 75 yrs --- meanwhile fkn walrus-mustache man is threatening iran --- this is the anniversary of verdun and all the slaughter in world war i --- "the war to end all wars" --- that nobody really intended to happen --- i hope we are not on the verge of another one

sunday sounds

i had an excellent sunday afternoon with ms kidd at the symphony sunday, beginning with one of the more rousing renditions of the national anthem i've ever heard --- and by an orchestra!! --- rachmaninoff's piano concerto no. 2 in c minor was what i went for --- a favorite since h.s., but never heard it live --- good pianist, but a little overpowered by the orchestra at a few points --- tchaikovsky's fifth symphony is not my favorite, except for the opportunity to continue enjoying their newest bassist, sharif ibrahim

there were these little "listening guides" that I had not seen before --- nice, but too much studying for the moment
