i spent the afternoon vacuuming up dog hair while dog was at the salon getting his hair done, i.e., getting his annual haircut --- for a few months, the great balls of dog hair rolling around my unit here will no longer be present

but his weight issues can no longer be ignored --- maybe we can just start calling him piglet

it's time for guinness' annual haircut --- always a traumatic experience, but this time i procured some doggie xanax, which i will administer beforehand --- we hope it will be easier on him and everybody else

tallulah falls

it was known as the niagara of the south when george cooke painted it in 1841 and was a popular tourist destination even before the civil war

in the 1890s and early 1900s, a railroad took hundreds of tourists to the falls, like these at oceana falls in 1910 --- only during controlled water releases do the falls looks like this today

oceana falls, a poor shadow of its natural self --- after the river was dammed in 1913, the falls declined as an attraction, superseded by the popularity of summer homes on the lakes behind the dam

this is l'eau d'or, "gold water," the first of six separate cataracts that make up tallulah fall --- several times a year, they do large water releases, and the original spectacular water flow over the falls is recreated --- i want to see that

this little unit and its compadres have been filling the room with the scent of coconut for nearly two months now

streetcars on peachtree! --- i think too many people think of it as a giant and very expensive fun ride, and don't understand what it will contribute to restoring a vibrant downtown --- i'm stoked

meanwhile both sides of courtland between ponce and north avenues are getting all built up --- on the near side here is the site of the proton therapy facility and its particle accelerator, which sounds slightly scary ---  

the new apartment tower at sixth and juniper

the hyatt's alterations to the tenth and juniper sides of the building are looking promising --- the site is finally addressing pedestrian access, which it basically did not have except through parking lots and driveways --- on the other hand, the new apartment tower on crescent at 12th has seriously compromised my view of One Atlantic Center, which may be my favorite building in the city
