the jon memorial cattleya has been in bloom since july 1--- last time for it was january/february, so i guess it's on a biannual cycle ---

the other cattleya, which last opened in late april, has started setting another bud, which ought to bust open maybe around labor day --- it bloomed in december/january, too, so it too might be a quarterly bloomer --- couldn't set a calendar  by them, but who cares?  wheeeee!!!

i have scanned and been trying to upload to tomitronics images from a sketch book that one of my great-grandfathers created in the spring and summer of 1950 (he turned 94 that year) --- he was a farmer and baptist minister in northwest clayton county, georgia, and was also slightly crazy i think, not that there's anything wrong with that, you understand --- i just love this image ---
