another place where i am glad not to be

the sinjar mountains in northern iraq, where tens of thousands of a minority religious sect, the yazidi, have been trapped in the most god-forsaken wilderness imaginable, without food or water, running from one of the most vicious armies since the khmer rouge, islamists who have been killing christians, the yazidi, and anybody else they deem an infidel --- some of the yazidi finally escaping yesterday, many walking out with only the clothes on their backs --- most of the video has no narration and all the language is kurdish, but it's worth the ten or so minutes it will take to watch it --- so glad the u.s. is helping ---
