can't have nothing nice

rummaging through old slides, i found this image from 1986---designed by p. thornton marye, who also did terminal station, this was bell telephone's new north exchange, built in 1916, demolished in 1988, now part of the site of the federal reserve bank (the building just visible at left is the building just east of the midtown marta station)

Those AT&T (Bell System) exchange buildings are a treasure. So many are gone. You should check out the book I helped put together for one of the post-divestiture Bell companies. Lots of exhange buildings in there.
