animal rights

they've discovered 100-125,000 lowland gorillas in congo and zaire, when researchers had figured that there were only 100,000 left worldwide---now if everybody will just leave them the heck alone----spain was mocked for proposing that chimpanzees might have some rights, but anybody that loves animals know that they do----and what we're doing to pigs for our bacon is getting some more attention, at least in california---

It sounds odd to say that apes have rights - or to call a chimpanzee a "person." As a legal matter, though, it is not such a stretch. People in irreversible comas have rights. Even corporations are recognized as "persons," with free speech and equal protection rights, and the ability to sue and be sued.
