vanishing georgia



this is old news, but the state's vanishing georgia collection is a real time waster---you can search by county or whatever---18,000 images, nearly 1,000 from fulton county alone---aftermath of the 1917 fire out boulevard, chain gangs, you name it---

    I'm thinking that, strangely, their was probably a certain amount of pride that went with being in a chain gang. At least there is a certain amount of comraderie and group identification...it's a "gang" after all.
